A family company and its roots
Shortly after WWII Johannes Karl Paul Heuer travelled from Berlin to Leipzig in October 1945 to find work. He tried making money as a free-lance copywriter and due to his calligraphic experience he was able to write wall texts himself.
Johannes Heuer was a dedicated man with tremendous vision, who succeeded in every way. He went to action right away, bought a defective printing and a steel-engraving machine. He even performed the repair work himself. Luckily there was enough space in a six-room Leipzig flat that had only been slightly damaged by a grenade attack.
Johannes Heuer devoted himself to drafting all the artwork; with output rising steadily, he produced steel engravings and greeting cards from random pieces of paper. The following year he had to hire five employees and he supplied his goods to all the wholesalers within the wider Berlin area.
In 1949 Johannes Heuer for the first time rented an exhibition stand at the Leipzig Trade Show to showcase his products there. In the fifties he worked for leading business companies like 'Blom' in Magdeburg, producing a customized corporate identity logo. It is hardly believable that he single-handedly managed to prepare all the print media.
After the Communist Expropriation in Eastern Germany Johannes Heuer had to flee with his wife and little daughter Heidelore from Leipzig via West Berlin to the BRD.
At the very advanced age of 78 Johannes Heuer ended his career as a free-lance business consultant and went into well-deserved retirement.
Heidelore Heuer majored in both English and German at the universities Freiburg and Munich. During her studies there she became aquainted with her future husband Wolfgang Karl.
Both of them have been working in the fields of art, design and creative writing in English and German since the seventies. They have had countless exhibitions and publications in Germany, Europe and in the USA.
Cbernetic & FiberCOM oHG (ordinary partnership) was founded in 1997.
We were a full-service web design and programming company. In addition to that we offered corporate identity design solutions.
In 2007 we launched our family company agency Karl & Karl®.
Daniel Alexander Karl, the eldest son of Heidelore and Wolfgang Karl, took over the management of the agency Karl & Karl®.
